Automobiles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior representative stated the attack left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
