Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, took control to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
